Erik ten Hag urged Anthony to get a chance to start for Manchester United

Anthony is Manchester United’s second most expensive player. But Eric Selhot said that he will have to fight back against academy products Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho,

Anthony, signed for £86 million in the summer of 2022, has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 83 games.

The manager shrugs it off, saying it’s difficult for Anthony to realize how expensive he is and two homegrown players ahead of him.

The Ten Hag have only brought on the right winger once this season, coming on as an 89th-minute substitute in a 2-1 defeat to Brighton last month.

“You pick the team you think has the best chance of winning a game. The players have to fight for their positions. You pick the XI with the best dynamic, the best chemistry. We are happy with that. Two players, Diallo and Garnacho, came into the squad from the academy. Now he is back, he has the skills to do it. If he does it right, he can compete with them. He’s fighting for his position. That’s what they should do.The other players are very good.” said Ten Hag.

United host Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and the Ten Hag will be asked if Anthony can start.Ten Hag gave an update on Luke Shaw’s recovery from a hamstring problem.
