Manchester United were confident of financial stability despite a loss of £113m

Manchester United posted a net loss of £113.2m in their latest accounts but are confident they will comply with Premier League and UEFA financial rules.

The Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) allowed £105m of losses over three years, but infrastructure investment within the rules.Certain deductions are allowed, among others, related to academies and women’s clubs.Everton and Nottingham Forest received point deductions last season after exceeding the allowed losses in terms of PSR.United made club-record revenues of £661.8m in the year ending June 30 and are expected to make a number of cost-cutting measures, saving between £40m and £45m a year.

United bought a 25% stake in December and announced in July that 250 people would be made redundant as part of a restructuring under Sergeant Ratcliffe, who now heads football operations at Old Trafford.

Part of Berrada’s payment is to put United on a safer financial footing by maximizing football and commercial success and operating in a more efficient manner.

Despite paying an eighth of the cost for André Onana and Rasmus Højlund, a 10% increase in wages to £364.7m meant United failed to finish eighth in the Champions League last season.

United’s broadcasting revenue is expected to fall by £30m as it is involved in the Europa League rather than the Champions League, which will impact next year’s accounts.

Ratcliffe pledged to inject $300m (£229m) into United by the end of the calendar year and has already paid two-thirds of that amount.

A one-off cost of £47.8m related to the strategic review eventually saw Ratcliffe buy into the club and oversee management changes, including the appointment of Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox to senior roles.

Plans are underway for a £50m redevelopment of Carrington Training Ground.”The club is committed to complying with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules and UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

We are working towards more effective financial sustainability and making changes to our operations to ensure that our resources are directed to improving performance on the pitch.

Manchester United’s strength is driven by the passion and loyalty of our fans. Our goal is to bring the club to Europe and back to the top level of football.”Berrada said.

Ronaldo made a new attack on Ten Hag.

Cristiano Ronaldo has launched a fresh attack on Manchester United manager Eric Selhog.   Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, he said “The coach said he couldn’t compete to win the league and the Champions League. As Manchester United coach, I cannot say that I will not fight to win the league or the Champions League.

Ronaldo left Manchester United in November 2022, feeling “betrayed” by the Ten Hag and saying: “He doesn’t respect me because he doesn’t respect me.”Reflecting on his departure, Ronaldo told Ferdinand. “I’m not one to forget the past. This club is still one of the best in the world and needs time to rebuild.I believe the future is bright, but we have to rebuild from the bottom up.Otherwise, they can’t compete. They can do well.”We can win the Carabao Cup, but the Champions League or the Europa League or the Premier League, in my opinion, will be difficult,” said the 39-year-old Ronaldo.
